Griffin Radiator on a dual fan car (pics)

This is a Griffin 31x19 radiator with a B&M 24000 GVW tranny cooler installed. The radiator is 1/2" thicker than the stock radiator, so the upper mount doesn't fit. In this picture, if you look at the upper mount, it's actually crooked and just rigged up so I could drive to work. (This mount actually passed tech at the track last Friday.)

Here's the new mount I spent 7 hours fabricating last Saturday. It's just a sheet of aluminum bent and fitted, with two brackets welded to the top for the fan mounts. I used a sheet of rubber with two slots cut into it for the top rubber mount.

Here's a picture from the backside where you can see the fan mounts. I also made a new bottom bracket, which mounts the fans an extra 1/2" away from the radiator so the fans clear the side tanks.

Go ahead. It cost me 3$ in surplus aluminum sheeting and $2.75 in bolts. Can't beat that.

hmmm

I am not familiar with welding, but i am interested in buying a griffin (cause its cheaper than the custom fit BEE COOL rads). How much can i pay you to do that setup if i end up getting the radiator?

Well, if a few people need brackets I can make a few. I'd probably sell them for 55 bucks each (I have to rent the shop space from a friend), which would still make it a lot cheaper than a BeCool radiator. I'd include the upper and lower brackets, and the rubber spacer for the top since the stock bottom rubber mounts work. I'll also include the bolts, washers, and nuts that I used to bolt the fans to the bracket, since the stock sheet screws work to bolt the brackets to the car.

I'll even polish it for an extra price, but I won't know how much that is until I find out how long it takes to polish mine. I'll go over the piece with a medium grade polishing pad on my die grinder to clean it up a little for the non-polished parts.

All parts will be test fit on my 1990 Iroc, I can't guarantee they'll fit any other car since I don't have them. (I'm pretty sure that all dual fan setups are the same dimensions, though.)

Hey I am looking for a radiator that will cool a big block where did you get that griffin? What did it run you? And how much cooler does it run. If I remeber Summit has the 1'' thick tubbing core and then they have a double row 1 1/4" thick tubing core. Might be a different brand but thought I'd ask. Also what it the part # TIA James

I got it from Summitracing.com. I can't find the part number because their site doesn't work for me at the moment. It's the 31x19 Nascar style radiator with 1" tubes. It cost me 189$ and I really couldn't tell you how much cooler it's running since the temperature around here went up 10 degrees to 105 the weekend I put it in.

Dude, that is a very nice setup you have. Would you mind posting a drawing of it if you have one? If you could do a side view drawing showing all the angles, that would be excellent for all of us who cant afford 55 bucks (read I just dropped mega bucks on a 12 bolt and wheels )
