Tranny cooler

Hey guys. I got a question about tranny coolers. I see so many choices but what confuses me the most is the fittings. I have a 700R4 tranny and was wondering what cooler u guys would recommend and what type of fitting we have. Thanks!

I use the B&M Supercooler. It came with all the fittings and hoses and cost under $50.

Dsaylor, when you hooked it up how did u fit the lines? Those steel/alluminum/metal lines that go to the radiator are right flush against it and dont want to cooperate in moving any. I just remember this from installing a new radiator a while back. Doesn't the cooler hookup there or am i fooled? heh heh. Thanks for your time!

It's been a while, but without looking at it I believe the metal line had enough play in it to move it over beside the radiator. Actually I'm sure of it.

Are you installing the cooler by itself, or are you using it in addition to the factory cooler? If you use them both, you only have to worry about dealing with one of the metal lines.

i could be wrong, but i think one me six the tranny lines actually plug into the radiator as well. At least i think so. I remember having a great time getting them to line back up when i installed my radiator.

I don't have access to my car right now, at work, can't leave to go outside.

I was thinking of just installing it by itself, or is it better to use both in conjunction? Its just that those metal lines are a pain in the butt and i want to make sure i have a game plan before i go and tear it all up. Thanks for your time guys!

I gently used a box wrench to bend my cooler hardlines. Now they both point straight up and my cooler rubber hose attaches and runs around to the front of the radiator.

I really don't know if its better to use both coolers, or just the aftermarket cooler alone, either way would be ok though.

I used both because I wasn't sure. On one hand I figured more fluid capacity and keeping the factory cooler would be better, but on the other hand, does running through the factory cooler/radiator just cause it to heat up more?

I don't have a temp guage for the tranny yet so I'm really not sure which way is better. Anyone?

Well, my tranny fluid runs 30-50 degrees cooler than my water. I'd say it'd heat it up running it through the stock cooler.
