Car running to cold
I installed a 195* stat after my 160* locked shut. Then I installed a home made air damn. (made from sheet metal) The only problem is now the car never gets past the second little line that is after the big one. The half way point from 100*-220*. Does anybody know what the temps is per little marker, how hot my motor is running, and how I can have it heat up alittle more during the winter.

the only way to be sure is to have a scanner hooked up and watch the coolant temp the computer sees and compare to the gauge, on my 89 IROC, that line is about 180,acording to the computer(running a 180 stat, stays right there)
well i found out that value of 175* by using a scan tool. and it was 175 right at that line. But chances are all our gauges are going to be a little off, we all know how accurate the stock guages are. and the Camaro gauges might be a little diff then the firebird\TA ones. but 170-180 is a very good estimate with gauge variations.

It's hard to say what temp you're actually running. I know somebody has a way to tell by testing the ohms the sending unit has............Vader has that chart. Hit him up.
Is it higher or lower than it was before the stat swap?
Our factory gauges are practical in the sense that you can guestimate what's going on with the engine, but they're by no means accurate. If you don't have trouble with fuel milage or performance, I wouldn't worry about it............wait, carbed or TPI or TBI?

My other stat was locked shut. I didn't hook up the gauge. But I think it cant be that far off because my heat is not the hot. I was just wondering how cool my car is running, and what could cause my car to run so cool. I know the air dam is one thing, but I just don't want it to harm the motor.

So from the middle line is 195*. Makes sense, just weird!! Thank you. I was just makeing sure that my 195* was opening up at the right temp. That way I don't have to pull it again and check it. Thank you for your help.
