rad. tank leak help please

rad. tank leak help please

my radiator tank is leaking, its about 5" down from the radiator cap, going to put some alumaseal in today but is there any other way to patch this?

if it is leaking there, chances are that u might get another leak somewhere else pretty soon. there probably is alot of corrosion and fixing that one leak isn't gonna do u any good other being a short term fix. is it aluminum or copper?

Agreed. Don't take chances with your cooling system. Upgrade to aluminum if you don't have it already.

Those side tanks are plastic and have a gasket to seal them with the rad core. The only way to patch it would be to remove the side tanks, install a new gasket, then crimp back on the side tanks. Or there may be a leak in the actual side tank itself. Best just to replace the whole unit.

coolant started leaking from the sides of my factory one, so i didnt take a chance a bought a new radiator..

i was an idiot and i tried to find the leak. alumiseal worked for about an hour. im sorry man just get a new one i paid 119 at murrays.

No.You can try high temp epoxy but it's only good for a short time. The plastic gets a crack down from the cap(almost always the same place). I personally like the plastic side tanks, I think they allow for the pressure changes better than metal.

I had a local rad shop install a new side tank after mine cracked; cost around $35 over six years ago.
