Temp gauge not working

Just wondering if anyone can help. I have a 92 RS with a 305 and temp gauge will not budge at all no matter how long you drive. The only time it moves is when you start the car it jumps all way to max and then drops down to min and does not move. that leads me to belive that it is not a wiring issue but i could be wrong. I have already changed the coolant temp sensor and have no idea were to go from here but i belive the temp gauge not working is causing my fan not to come on when it is suposed to. Any help will greatly app.

you should have 2 temp sensors one for the dash guage and the other for the ecm to tell the fans when to come on , which sensor did you replace and did you test any of the sensors they can be tested

Just a code 12 that is all. How so you go about testing the sensors is it very hard?

no its not hard but you'll have to check on the site dont remember what section its under but find the one with the ohms resitance for sensors, then get an ohm meter clip it to the sensor wires and it will give you a reading which you'll have to compare from the chart in on of the sections if you get readings that dont match the chart then the sensor is no good if they do match then you might have an electrical problem
