Air Deflector, is this mine?

Car: 1985 Sport Coupe
Overheats (230 - 260) on the highway, especially with the A/C on.
Thought it was the 'missing' air deflector.
Bought 2 from Chevy, and it looks like mine is installed already, just a real small version.
From these pictures, is mine installed already?

I'm not to sure on a camaro, but the airdam on firebirds is seperated from the front end. If you already bought a replacement, I'd just put it on anyways. You could also check a shop manual for your car for more info.

Yep, the Air Dams on a bird are much larger because the bird can only breath from the bottom, where as a Camaro gets a little bit of air from the front grill.

I dont know if yours is there or not but you should be able to get a 85 up Iroc/Z28/RS style one that hangs a bit lower and mount it to your car without to much trouble, im sure it would help out.

I already bought the Z28 air deflector. Actually bought 2 of them.
The shop manual doesn't really talk about the deflector, I'll have to search the book some more.
The installed one looks like it is an integral part of the nose. I am planning on spending some cash on body work, maybe my best bet is to get a Z28 nose for it (no badging though, I don't want a Z28 clone).
It has the belt driven clutch fan, can that go bad and mess up the cooling?
I'm trying not to let the wife know that I spent $50 and might not be able to use the parts.

Use the one you bought. It will hang down much lower than that 'thing' you have. It bolts right below the radiator. The 'thing' you have doesn't look like it will do much. Sure the fan clutch affects cooling--but that's usually an around town overheating problem if the fan clutch doesn't kick in. However, if you are indeed running 220+(assuming the guage is correct), that fan should be roaring loud.

The thing that is already installed goes all the way around and bolts up under the headlight 'tray'. I don't really want to cut and hack the piece up to make it work. There are tabs on the one that is installed, I don't know if that is where an air deflector of some sort is supposed to be.
When I installed the gage, it was accurate using a test signal. The sensor is new, therefore I believe the temperature is accurate.
I'm going to replace the thermostat and possibly replace the fan. I don't know how the clutch portion works to determine if it is working properly.

If the clutch is much more than 5 or so years old, it could probably be replaced. When the temp gets at or around 220+, you should notice the fan getting much louder--that's how you can tell if it's working.
