oil cooler on a 92 Z28

Ok, I have a 92 Z that came with the factory oil cooler. Most likely the cooler got clogged and the person who owned it before me took it off and capped off the cooler lines. I would like to know the part number for the cooler if anyone knows so that I can reinstall it. Thanks for any info.

I dont know the part number but I think you will be better off installing an aftermarket one if your goal is to put on back on the car. First off, the GM one is proberbly 3 times the money of a good aftermarket one. Second, the aftermarket ones cool a lot better then the factory one. You just have to install the cooler in front of the radiator.

Ok, what are some good coolers out there? Just look at Summit and pick one of the universal ones up to mount in front of the radiator? Also, you're runnin SLP headers, how do ya like em? Do you blow a lot of gaskets or do they stay tight and leak free? I don't mean to get off topic, just noticed the bio on yer car.

do a search and see what most guys are using for coolers. I still use the factory one. basically you need a cooler , lines and a new sandwich adapter. look at your adapter and make sure that nothing special is plumbed into it like an oil pressure sensor or anything. as for the headers, I havent had any problems yet with gaskets but I havent had theheaders on the the same engine for more then 1 year

Well if you haven't had any problems in a year I don't suspect that you will have any. Did you use the slp mounting package or another bolt kit?

that's cool. I'm just interested to find out if a set of stage 8 locking bolts will work. I think they'll be too short though.

If you buy a set or ARP header bolts, they will not work. Some of them will but not all. The SLP headers have small tubes welded on the flanges and longer bolts go through there. I am sure that SLP sells a bolt kit just for there headers, or you can take some measurments and get your own bolts..either way.

Yeah, I'm just worried about regular bolts backing out on me like every other set I've ever used on a set of headers
