I second that and it could be the fan as well. Hit the fan with 12vdc, unhook plug from fan, ground one side of fan and apply 12vdc from battery to the other, does the fan work?

thats it, it is supposed to go to the fan switch in the passenger head, if you run it to ground, the fan will run with the key on, it will work around town until you can fix

The fan switch that Dave Y is referring to is the heavy duty fan switch for the secondary fan. There is no per say coolant fan switch for the primary fan. It will come on when the A/C is turned on and when you jumper pins "A" & "B" of the ALDL. There is also the Fan A/C pressure switch in the high pressure line of the A/C system. Other than that the fan is operated by the ECM through the Coolant Temp Sensor in the intake manifold.

good point, is the set-up single or dual fan?

if single, what I said holds true, if dual, what trickster said goes

just about any auto parts store, but a "cooler" switch would be my choice, as well. something like 200 on / 185 off.
