ammonia smell

has anyone ever smelt ammonia in their coolant?

Axle/Gears: 2.73 Posi w/Disc

No one I've ever heard of. May indicate you have a little electrolytic reaction in the cooling system. I've heard as little as 0.1VDC can screw up cooling systems...

Thanks for the response. Honestly it's not even my car, It's a friend of mine's who said he flushed it a year ago with one of those chemical flushes, now when he opens the resevior the smell is so strong it will knock you on your butt. anyone else have any other ideas?
