Heater Blower Motor

As some of you know I work at Pep Boys (going to quit very soon! it sucks ) I shopped price a blower motor for my camaro and it came out to 13.00!! yeeeah!! brand new made by some company called SIEMENS (FACTORY AIR) and snagged me a blower motor relay.

Now I want to replace both the relay and motor for the following reasons.

When I turn the switch on it doesnt blow any air and hear nothing!

When I put it on hot and on HEATER it takes a real long time to heat up and dont even feel any heat until the car is moving or if I put it on VENT and the car is moving.

Will a new motor and relay fix this problem? and is this an easy installation?

i have the same problem, and i was just wondering if the relay is the the block "box" type thing that has a plug going into it on the bottom, because i went to pep boys to buy one, and i said relay, he told me it was called a resistor. any help would be great. -jon

so if one of the two went bad (resistor or relay) which would be the more likely? fan doesn't work at any speed. or could it be the motor itself?

If the resistor has gone bad, the blower would still work at some speeds. Check the motor and relay.

Ahh shieza! my controls wont work anymore!! What gives?? the only thing that works are the vents in the bottom and the windshield defroster and hot or cold

but the heater/vents/max/normal/bi vent/vents WILL NOT WORK!!!! what could this be? all speeds of the fan are working its just not coming out thru the vents!!!
Heres what I did

Installed a new:

Blower Motor
Blower Relay

what else could I replace that has to do with this?

Defrost is the default, so apparently you have a vac problem or something is obstructing a door.

Could the motor blower cage have come loose so that while the motor is turning, it's not pushing air? I'm guessing.

I found the problem!!!!! it was the Air Climate Control assembly
the top switch was smoking and burning! Ill take pics of it tonight!

So this should be a sign to everyone.. If you see smoke coming out of your air control assembly it means the switch has gone bad and it is burning from on top and bottom!!! You will see a thin white smoke that smells disgusting not like Anti-Freeze or even burning plastic, but smells nasty disgusting old moldy...

Will post pics later!

here they are!

I should Start a tech article but I feel we have gone to far in this topic and it is too late, but here are some pics of what to look for if you may experiance the same situation as me... white soft smoke with a disgusting odor..... coming out of the air control assembly

This is how it looks like after you have disconnected all those wires and vaccum hoses... its a bitch... but I removed it from my console with in 40 minutes, did it during my 1 hour lunch

Here is the part where it was burning and smoking from
as you can see .. it appears to be warping the plastic near the number 4 and 3

Im currently bidding a new assembly on e-bay hopefully I win! or else im going to be freezing in the morning and at night...

hi speed always will work, as that speed does not go through a resistor spring in the box outside on firewall

low and medium go through springs

your control panel looks toasted lmao

good luck
