Dont laugh at me

Alright guys, Dont laugh at me too hard ..

My water pump went out yesterday afternoon, No big deal right?
I remove the pump, cruise up to Checker to purchase another.
Without thinking twice, I core out my water pump with the
pulley assembly still attached to the pump !!!

I didnt realize it untill I install the pump, and go to grab the
the serpentine belt ..that I just gave Checker my pump pulley

Checker was closed by the time I could make it back, I was
so frustrated, I just had to walk away from the car for the night
and deal with it tommarow ..

Where can I get a matching pulley w/ studs for my car?
Does a auto parts store carry them ? or dealership ??

Ive never had to look for a pump pulley before

usually parts places only pick up cores once a week when they get a shipment in, at least thats how autozone and advance do it. go back to the store and tell them what you did they can find it.

Ouch, I had a similar incident, lol

Well, If I cant get the pulley, Where can I scout another one out?
Are most universal? I dont want to buy a replacement that is too
big/small of my application..

Its a L98, all accessories intact

My first thought was the local Chevy dealer, but since its
8:30pm here in the desert, I thought Id chat about it, lol

I feel like a jackass.. My car is off the road for another day
over a ridiculous mistake like the one Ive done ..

next time, ill have more attention to detail

Or if you cant get a hold of your old pulley, you could always put a set of under drive pulley's brom BBK or Mach Pulley's. Or if you werent into that, then my guess is that at at least one of the GM websites you could get a replacement. Or if you got desperate, bone yard.

You wasn't able to get the one back from your core? IMO hit a junkyard, any late model v8 car that had a serpentine set up should have what you need, not just a 3rd gen. Like a ck series full size truck or van should have the correct pulley.

No such luck,

I ranted and raved to the supervisor/manager, but the
core pallet had already been shipped ...A truly sad revelation

I am forced to place the order to Brown & Brown Chevy
for a replacement pulley/stud kit, because no other option
presented itself .. Ive searched and searched

The boneyard probally wont want to take a pulley off a
complete motor, because they sell them ready to go ..

*sigh*
