In my service manual for the 1992's, the electrical schematic (is that spelled correctly?) says the coolant fan switch closes at 238 and opens below 214 degrees F. Go figure. Who knows what the correct number is.

Do you have dual fans? If yes, the primary comes on around 227 degrees. The primary uses the CTS mounted in the front of the motor. The secondary fan, which operates from a fan switch and or A/C fan switch comes on around 238 degrees.

Yes, I have two fans but I was reading from the diagram for Vin code E. That is the code for tbi right? Again, just telling everyone what is in the 1992 GM Service Manual.

I am no expert on this by any means. I'm just reading the service manual and trying to figure this out.
I was looking at page 8A-31-1 if anyone else wants to chime in. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong.
Here is the book I have.

A quick test to make sure that your fan motor isn't bad is to apply 12 volts to it directly to see if it works. I had to replace one of my fan motors. If the fan does work, then work backwards from there, checking fuses, relays, CTS, wiring and fan switch. One other thing, don't rely on the factory temp gages to be accurate. Most are not. Plenty of posts on that topic.

I suggest before you start replacing things, make sure the fan motor is working. Then check your wiring / fuses / connectors. These tests could prevent you from replacing things that aren't the problem.
