which way should my fans blow??
Should they be blowing air through the radiator (i.e pushing air away from the engine) or should they be pulling air through the rad (i.e blowing air toward the engine)?
Stupid question I know.

Pulling, let me elaborate the idea is to keep the coolant cool which in turns cools the engine so it should be pulling in the outside air.

you mean pulling in air from in front of the radiator, right? Thats what I though, but I dont ever remember feeling air blowing against my hand as I put it between the engine and the fan. If I couldnt see, I had to feel the blades against my fingertips (gently).
I have a dual electric fan setup.
I dont remember but it just doesnt seem right and I am overheating for no other reason.
Would someone please double check so I dont feel crazy. Go out to your car and feel, please.

We don't have to go out and check, the fans are supposed to blow air toward the engine.
If they aren't then they are either:
A) failing to turn on.
or
B) installed backwards.
PS: Don't stick your fingers in the fans when the car is on!

Trust me I know....I do it very gingerly.
Ok..I'm not insane then.
They are both working and blowing air toward then engine.
The engine was just installed and I've been chasing cooling problem since I got it back. Worked just fine before with the 305.
Before It never got above 180.
Now its getting upwards of 220-230* (even on the friggin highway).
I have done everything. (manual fan switch on the ecm fan, low temp switch on the other, 180* stat, water wetter, 70/30 coolant to h2o, brand new fan motors, brand new stock rad). The air dam is intact.
The engine is rebuilt. I just hope its not a leaking intake or head gasket or even a cracked head. But these engines are supposed to be checked for all that before they leave the warehouse. Crap!

have you tried installing a aftermarket temp gauge. or have done a coolant temp reading? i was having the same problem and it was inaccurate temp gauge. when i would datalogg my car i would get a reading of 200 degrees from the coolant temp sensor and my gauge was pegged to 260 degrees. if i were you i would look in to doing a coolant temp sensor reading with some aldl cables. i know you said your car has a rebuild engine. and my camaro does also and everything was replaced and the temperature sending unit failed. just my

some of my engines will run a little hot when new but after they get broke in and loosen up a bit temp returns to normal...just watch the temps and keep checking your oil for signs of water...tao

tao, I really hope you are right. From what i understand, the oil will have a milkshake like appearance if water gets inside it. I've been checking my dipstick and it looks fine. We'll see.
1bad3rdgen, no I havent done either. I know its probaby time for an aftermarket guage. I'll run my codes today and see what pops up.
I take it I'll need a scanner for the aldl readings?

well related advice,
instead of using ur finger.. you could just run the car, have the fans go on, shut off the car (fans go off)
AND watch them as tehy slowly stop spinning, and you will see which way they are spinning, then witht eh car off, spin it, and see that you feel the breeze of air coming towards the engine...
easier than loosing a finger if someone startled you or anytype of accidental accident occured
