Figured out my cooling problems

Here is a link to some background info:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cool...d-my-fans.html

I was in traffic the other day with outside temps a 95* ish. I live in austin so you know what the traffic is like if you are from here. Anyway I was super worried abotu overheating. In stop and go traffic I was maintaining a good 180-190* on my temp guage. I was shocked. But i havent hit summer traffic since I had the new engine installed so I didnt know what it would do.

But when I'm driving around 60 mph on the hiway and around town, I am running 220-230*.

My airdam is original, still intact, but pretty beat up and now is attached by only two bolts. Its flimsy as hell.

I know I said I had my cooling problems figured out (hopefull not prematurely) but this has to be the solution. I am ordering a new airdam today. Why else would I be overheating while driving but maintaining awesome temps in texas stop and go summer traffic?

I had a the same problem on my other car: I would take it on the highway and it would almost overheat, I'd pull over and it would cool down after idling for 10 minutes.

Turned out to be the waterpump. The clearance between the impeller and the housing was too much and it was cavitating at higher RPM's.

BTW: you're in Austin now but I haven't seen you, man! You gotta come to a meet!

Don't start tearing into the engine just yet. I'd check out other simpler options first. I just stated what was wrong with mine, I'm not saying that's what's surely wrong with yours.

Hope that makes sense.
