fan blower motor upgrade?
Does anyone know of a fan blower motor upgrade to move more air through the car? The stock fans just don't move much air. Not by comparison to other vehicles.
Has anyone upgraded theirs? Just wondering.
I'm referring to the fan for the interior of the car. (runs the a/c , heat, defrost..) Not radiator fan.
Thanks,
-BV

If yours is the original unit you would be amazed at how much a new fan moves. As they get older the brushes wear out and they just dont run as good. I had the original and over a period of time I noticed I had to run it on the higher speeds to get any flow. After I replaced it, on low it seemed to put out almost as much as on high, then on high it really puts out. I guess over time you just dont notice it falling off. Hey its a simple and cheap swap, I would just put another one in and see.

Then, can they be rebuilt to restore condition? On high, I can barely hear mine. And, the air is semi OK.

You can buy one from Pep-loosers, or Auto-junk for like less than 20 bucks.....lol. And you can install it in about 15 min.

That's certainly cheap enough. I'll hafta look into it.
Where is the blower motor located? Best way to get to it?

the blower motor is in the engine compartment on the passenger side of the firewall. A 9/32" socket/rachet shold be all you need. You may want to pick up the squirrel cage fan when you buy your blower motor, just in case the original plastic one is broken or gets broken when you remove it from the original motor.

Ok, I'll try that.
Yes, it's the original motor, but the car, despite it's 22 year age, has only 125K miles on it.
