Oil Cooler
Hey guys, on my '90 RS project I have the two ports above the oil filter thats supposed to be hooked up to an oil cooler. Im not planning on running a cooler and time soon so I was told I could cap them off. Is there a good way of doing this? Is there any pressure that would build up, only option i could think of would be welding them shut. Heres a pic to show what im talking about.

Re: Oil Cooler
You could just bypass the filter and route it in one and to the other. No worrys that way, and you could get all the parts from autozone for like $8.
That and your pic came up as NWS.

Re: Oil Cooler
Those ports would have coolant going through them if they were , not oil. You could just ignore them, but it would be better to just remove it.

Re: Oil Cooler
Just the factory ones. Aftermarket setups usually route the oil to a cooler.

Re: Oil Cooler
It would very slightly increase the oil capacity, but not by all that much. If you use too small of a hose then you can see a pressure drop, but I've run 3/8" hose to and from the cooler and still had 40 PSI at the top of the block.

Re: Oil Cooler
Not so much in coolant temperature, but it keeps the oil temperature quite a bit cooler.

Re: Oil Cooler
quick question. I've heard that its possible to use the "second" mini radiator as an oil coolant? (the one the air conditioning hooks up to, I forgot the name). Is this true or salesman bs? Thanks

Re: Oil Cooler
You could use the AC condensor as a transmission cooler but there's no way to get anything to pump through the oil cooler without the water pump. I installed my cooler lines when I did the swap into my 1991 RS. I don't know how much it helped but I figured "hey it's there and they probably had a reason for it" so I ran the hoses for it and called it a day.
