Stroker cooling question

I heard that if you put a 160 stat and a lower temp switch along with a aluminum radiator that your car might not get up to operating temp. I currently have the 160 stat, and will be investing in a aluminum radiator and a 160 fan switch, will this allow my 383 to get up to operating temp or not. Anyone with this kind of setup let me know what works. Thanks

It'll get to 160, at least.

Re: Stroker cooling question

160 is when it starts to open. it will be fully open around 175-180. i've heard people say (mainly the guys on the diy prom board) that when running a 160 stat you need to do some tuning to it. i never confirmed that statement or if it was just meant to change your fan turn on/off temps. i use a 180 stat, and i never go over 195 F*.

Re: Stroker cooling question

i usually run a 160 thermostat and a 167-176 fan switch in the summer, and a 195 thermostat and no fan in the winter and everything stays where it should be.

. nevermind what i wrote, im out of it.

i dont see your computer caring much tho, maybe in open loop if anything, but not closed, i guess if anything the motor could run cool enough that it never reached "hot temp"
so isnt going into closed loop.

that would be the only possible issue, but good luck keeping your motor that cool
