Temp Sending Unit Problem
Hi, my temp gauge stoped working from what I understand is that the temp sending unit is bad, I know it is located on the left side cylinder head somewhere between #1&3 cylinders but I cannot find it and Im not sure exactly what it looks like. Any help and or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a few things...Check your actual gauge in the car first, could be bad..Check the wire connected to the sending unit is not loose...I had that problem once, my gauge would not read..reconnected the wire and bam she worked again....Was a loose connection

Re: Temp Sending Unit Problem
check along the frame rail, under the steering shaft, and along the firewall...look for a loose wire. It is all alone for like 10-12" before it enters a wire loom

Re: Temp Sending Unit Problem
There were two different styles of sending units used during the generation, and the change wasn't a consistent-year change, like the data says, so you could have either style.
If yours doesn't look like the one in the link IROCmonkey posted, then it probably looks like this one:

The sender in my '87 is original, and it's like the later style in the link I posted.

Re: Temp Sending Unit Problem
That is exactly what mine looks like and i found the clip, it was strange at first because i was expecting a spade type connector, havent had a chance to see if it works yet, the car is still on a lift at school just finished with other misc. wiring diff oil change ,wheel bearings, brakes and many other things
