fan wiring problem
I just bought a 92 RS 25th anni. and the electric fan will only run with the A/C on. Should I wire it direct or ? I need to get it fixed cuz when i take my sis to school I need the heat on, then on the way home i forget to change over to the A/C and it overheats (only happened twice, Im more careful now)

Check your coolant temp sensor. Passenger side head, between cylinders 6 and 8, above the starter. There's a connector you have to squeeze to remove. Also, check your fan relay. It's on the firewall on the driver's side.

Go to Cooling and stumped on cooling thread. This is about my car. I have changed everything and still at the same point you are. Running around town with the ac on to keep 'er cool.

It might just be the fan switches - I never got one to work right, even the expensive Thermaster ones, and I gave up.
I wired in a seperate fan controller, and I've been very pleased. It is adjustable, a probe goes inbetween the rad fins, and it has options for always on switches and always off switches to be mounted in the cabin. Cost about $90, and worth every cent!
I'll never go back to that crappy fan switch again!

I took a look at the wireing today and seen that someone rigged it. I also started her up and turned the A/C off and the cooling fan stoped then put ot back to A/C then it kicked back on. Everything else seems to check out fine.

i have the same problem. though i think mine is due to the truck computer the prev owner put in mine...
any instructions for wiring up a on/off switch?i would rather that then to turn the a/c on.

I will second the after market fan controller set up bought mine from pep- boys
(Brother in law is a manager there) $ 68 works fantastic set up to turn on at 185 off at 170 full manual over ride when I want it. It even is wired to the A/c so it cycles just like factory. My only issue is that I am running dual fans and they are wired together so they pull the alternator down hard when they come on. I am thinking of setting them up separately 10 degrees apart less sudden electrical load …
