A/C Cycling Problem
My AC never gets cold, the clutch cycles on and off every 3 seconds.
I already changed the cycling switch, I also replaced the high pressure switch.
I never used to come on at all until I replaced the two switches. Now every 3 seconds it comes on and then right off again. It does it infinately with AC power on.
Any insight?
My old Highpressure switch was red but they insist that red is now blue.
I vacuumed the system out and charged it back up with R-12 (Dont ask how I got some )

ok - won't ask how you got the R-12, but are you sure your system doesn't have a leak? what you're saying (never gets cold and cycles on/off) is a clear indication of being low on juice. check your servicing again... btw, if you put a jumper across that press switch connector and it stays running, that'll pretty much confirm what i just said.

I put 2.5 lbs of juice in the system, it also head 40 hgs of vacuum so I know it didn't leak.
You are right it does stay running with the switch shorted... maybe it needs more?

Don't Corvettes need 2.75 lbs of R-12? What does the sticker say?
On the GTA, it takes 2.25 lbs. When I had 1.9 lbs in there, it would cycle every 3 seconds like your car does.

Re: A/C Cycling Problem
it would have to have a fast leak then. The moment I put the R-12 on it never attained more than ambient air. I will vacuum it all out and convert to 134. R-12 is getting a little hard to get.
