Fan Not Coming On

Hi All

I have a 91 FB and the fan is not coming on.

After idling the car for about 5 minutes, I hear a click up front and the check engine light comes on and stays on. I figure this must have something to do with the fan coming on.

The fan fuse is ok. Tried a new fan and same result.

The temperature gauge rises accordingly whilst idling. When I drive the car around the temp is at about halfway.

Is there a relay that may be the problem?

Cheers Tom

Re: Fan Not Coming On

Can anyone tell me whereabouts the fan relay might be located? Is there something else I'm missing?

Re: Fan Not Coming On

Check on the driver side firewall. The oval type fuse should be the fan control relay. I recently replaced mine. My fan wouldn't shut off.

What engine code did you have, that may point you to your problem.

Re: Fan Not Coming On

I have a similar problem with my 92 rs 305. I had the fans switch changed out and the electrics checked and now (4 mo later) the fan is not turning on again. I know the fan works b/c it turns on when i put the AC on. So, any suggestions in addition to the above would be much appreciated.

Re: Fan Not Coming On

Figured it out, there was an orange wire off by the battery. Fan seems to work fine. Thanks everyone, cheers Tom
