I'm adding an external tranny cooler in front of my radiator. I was wondering if it would effect my cooling?
Right now my 383 runs at 180* when in traffic or sitting and idling. I'm running 2 electric fans hardwired to be on all the time.
Thanks, Chas

i doubt that any difference would be noticed,i had a big
15,000 gvw cooler in front of the radiator on my '69
camaro and it had no noticable effect on engine cooling.
Sounds like your cooling system is working good
anyway

Make sure you leave an air gap between the two. My 11 x 12" external cooler causes no radiator problems.

How much of a gap should I leave? 1", 1/2", 1-1/2"?Originally Posted by Reid Fleming

i like the external coolers with a fan mounted right on the external cooler. the exact place of the cooler should be about the same as the a/c condenser coil distance from radiator

I dont have an AC condenser so would that be about 1" give or take?Originally Posted by transam85dudeman
