Flex-a-lite fan controller

I have a single fan on my 85 IROC and I wanna get a fan controller for it but am not sure exactly what i'm looking at on summit. They range anywhere from $30 up to over $200. If anybody could help me with what kinda set-up they have and what i need to make it work right would be awesome thanx

Re: Flex-a-lite fan controller

Prices vary based on bells and whistles.

I have the $90 Flex-a-lite - it's a nice unit, but a tad pricey. But it is adjustable, starts fan at 65% power so as to not overload the electrical system, then kicks in at 100% a minute later, has provisions for A/C, and provisions for a manual on switch. I like it alot, well worth the $90 to me.

Re: Flex-a-lite fan controller

The heater core going out would make it overheat - maybe all you need is a new heater core.

180 is about the lowest you can run - anything lower freaks out the computer, and you'll run rich all the time.

Yes, the flex-a-lite kit comes with everything - you don't even use any of the stock stuff except fan and fan wires. It does not come with extra switches, so if you wan tto connect a manual on/off switch you'll have to buy the switch and wiring for that.

Re: Flex-a-lite fan controller

I too have a single fan set up in my Camaro. I needed a fan controller so after some reading and asking around I decided to go with this one here from Derale. I just looked for it online and can't find mine, very happy with it so far and I have had it for over a year so far.
