A/C fixed

Took the TA in and had the A/C converted to R134, with the repairs it needed it was $200 less than getting it recharged with R12. Pick it up from the shop tomorrow.

Hopefully, the condenser was replaced with the 6 mm design which would help some. Good luck on the conversion (it seems that some members have good results, while others, like me, find it less than desirable).

Best of luck.

Re: A/C fixed

Converted my R12 to R134 four years ago and have no complaints and I have a black car. I live in Southwest Florida and use my A/C about 85 % of the time thoughout the year. Best $350 I spent and it is cold as I want it.

Well, it is better, but not as good as I hoped. And being a T-top when the Florida sun is beating through it, your head and face are still hot.

BUT!!!! the big problem now is with the air running the car runs hot, in stop and go traffic it got up to about 140 and I had to shut the air off..

One of the guys here that crawls Jeeps said his Jeep would over heat and he switched to a dual speed/ high CFM fan from a 90 to 95 Ford Taurus 3.8l.. I checked the web and it seems Jeepers, Vette racers, and Mustang hot rodders all commonly switch to this fan.

I didn't see it mentioned here, is there some reason, maybe it won't fit, or just no one had heard of it here yet?

I think you meant 240 lol.
Mine was doing the same thing. My fan was coming on, my thermostat was 180deg, AND my water pump was brand new. What was the problem? My radiator looked clean, but had massive buildup and scale on the very bottom causing poor cooling. I replaced the radiator and have not had any issues. If you don't know when the last time your radiator was replaced, maybe it's a good time to do so.

I had the same problems and after a leak at the bottom of the radiator, I replaced it (original one). When it was out, you should have seen tne curd behind the A/C condensor (almost complete blockage of the cooling fins). Since the replacement 180/190 deg with the A/C in stop and go city driving and 180/170 deg highway. Everything is stock and the ECM controlls the fans.

Re: A/C fixed

Well, radiator has not been replaced, but was supposedly flushed 600 miles ago when I had the engine replaced. But then virtually nothing on my engine is stock either, except the radiator. and the fan is controlled by a switch on the dash, which I usually leave on all the time.

And yes I meant 240 degrees.
