Reprogram computer temp. Is it possible?

I was thinking, the cooling fan starts up at 238 degrees (single fan). Granted I get all the supply's and proper software, could I get into the ECM and change the coolant temp sensor to turn the fan on at like 210-220 degrees? Or am I cursed to stick in the 230-240 range?

Any other suggestions (outside of aftermarket fans and switches and things) to have my fan kick on at a cooler temp?

You can purchase http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HYP-4026/,
install a switch on the ground on the Fan
and yes you can flash your prom... to what ever MPH start and or temp you desire

Thats perfect! Wouldn't I just have to replace the coolant fan temperature sensor on the passenger side with that (ie not ground of the fan, just direct replacement.)

How bad would flashing the prom be? I can only imagine a little difficult.

Also with that replacement sensor, would I have to change my thermostat to say a 170 or 160? I have a 180 in there now.

I ran a 160 but 170 for you would be recommended
it's gonna cost you some money... you can get free editing software & bins...but are harder to use for beginners... C.A.T.S is simple you will need to purchase your bin If I were you I would purchase the Romulator.... many many options out there

you should move this to DIY tuning

Re: Reprogram computer temp. Is it possible?

When I get really into tuning I will have to.

Right now I'm worried about the cooling fans coming on at a better time, so if I get a 170 thermo, and a 178 on/ 168 off sensor, I should be set to cool at a sooner time than 238 degrees? Am I understanding that right?

correct lower stat..... the hypertech kit will change the fan startup temp
this is the safest, economical!!! way to turn the fans on @ a lower temp
