87 LT AIR DAM

I have an 87 LT that im in the process or working on. I searched the forum but couldn't find anything on a correct air dam for the LT. Im sure its the same as the air damn on an 86 Berlinetta right? and if so, is that the same air dam as any other 86 camaro? can I just put any air dam in there?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: 87 LT AIR DAM

Same as any 82-92 Camaro

Firebirds are different (but would probably still work, since the car itself is the same)

Re: 87 LT AIR DAM

Just make sure you do the research to get the correct one. I bought a "new" one for my 84 T/A from classic industries and it was physically smaller than the one that was on the car and not all the bolt holes matched up. I'm not saying you'll run into the same issues with the Camaro piece, but I wanted to let you know what issue I ran into with mine.

82-84 Camaro Coupe Air Dams are only compatible with 82-84 Coupe and Berlinetta. ( 2-pieces )

85-87 Camaro Coupe Air Dams are only compatible with 85-87 Coupe, Berlinetta & LT. (3-piece )

All 88+ Camaro cars used the same Z28/IROC style front Air Dams.

None of these styles are directly interchangeable with each other.

Thanks for the info guys! I only seem to be able to find that one piece large air dam. I'm assuming that's the 88+ dam you're talking about.
I replaced my 87 bumper with that of an 86 berlinetta. so I'm still looking for that 3 piece dam right? The 3 piece consists of two smaller side dams and one long middle dam right?

That would be the definition of three pieces...

Pretty sure if you swapped noses, you should get the one for the 86, unless the mounting hardware underneath didn't change.

Re: 87 LT AIR DAM

Why Can't you re-use the air dams that were on the original 87 nose ??

Here's a post showing a pic of the 3 pieces.......
