Temp sensor questions

Ok i want to make sure i understand this area. My fans werent turning on so i ordered part#ts147 right?

The othere question i have is does the sensor that goes to ecm does that control the gauge in the dash too? I ask because i started throwing code 45 i have read on here to make sure its not the sensor because if it continues to read cold it will use to much fuel. My guage works inside the the car.

Re: Temp sensor questions

That switch should at least work. Not sure about its temp.

No the gauge and ECM do not use the same sensor. The gauge doesn't use a "sensor" at all. It uses a sending unit, in the driver's side head between #1 & #3 plugs. The sensor for the ECM is at the front of the intake manifold.

Re: Temp sensor questions

I've recently replaced my fan relay and it seems that it only comes on when the car is over heating. It looks like it does not come on as it is designed to, once the AC is turned on. Is that correct or am I doing something wrong.

Re: Temp sensor questions

Probably...

Incorrectly identifying normal behavior as "overheating"; and/or, needing a new radiator cap.
