Hi! So I just bought a 1982 trans am originally a 305 swapped to a 350. I bought it as is and the seller didn't know anything about the car.
The thing is my heater doesn't work. The fan works, I have air but temperature control doesn't work (so just ambient temperature)...
Any idea where it could come from? I'm pretty new at owning a 3rd gen...
Also the car doesn't overheat
Thanks!
Oh right it might not have a thermostat at all actually.
The guy who sold it to me wasn't the one who did the swap and told me a bunch of things that made me think he had no idea what he was talking about.
For example he told me the car had no thermostat I asked how he knew and he said because the temperature gauge doesn't move (since nothing on the cluster
works anyway I assumed he was just clueless)
I will check that thanks!
Also check the heater hoses; make sure one is connected to the hot side of the cooling system (intake manifold) and the other is hooked to the cold side (cold tank of the radiator or the port on top of the water pump).
No chance it can work if water isn't forced to flow.
Most common mistake of this sort is to hook one hose to the WP and the other to the port on the rad.
Also, make sure the cable from the slider on the control head, is hooked up to the door that sends the air through the heater core.
Thanks! Is there a thread for presentation?
I dont have pictures of the engine bay yet because the car is stored like 45mn away from my place but when I get a chance I will upload a picture of that
