Check the obvious stuff first
This is a stupid story that showed me again to look first at the things that seem obvious.
I put LS1 fans in my car and bought factory style pigtail plugs on ebay for the fan motor connections. I made my own wiring harness with new relays and wrapped it all nice, put it in, idled the car until the fans came on and was happy it all worked great. When I tried to drive it the temp immediately went up, and the faster I drove the more the temp rose. If I pulled over and idled the car the fans would immediately bring the temp back down. I was confounded. I bled the radiator and was wondering if my water pump was bad or something.
Standing in front of the running car I noticed a lot of air on my ankles. I held a piece of paper in front of the car and it blew outwards. I put it near the fans under the hood and they sucked it right in. I had wired the fans according to the wire color on the cheap pigtails I had bought which turned out to be backwards from what the fan wanted. Being DC motors, they were spinning backwards. Swapped around some wiring and it works great. So the lesson is check what might seem overly obvious first before you start pulling your hair out like I did.

We all have done something like this in our past and possibly will do it again in the future.
