Cooling fan

Hello everyone I have a 92 Chevy Camaro 305 tbi with the single fan. And the fan is not coming on. I do not have the sensor or the passenger side head or the wire that goes there, ive tested the fan with running power to it and it works also I’ve grounded the wire going to the relay which is the ground wire and the fan will kick on. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Cooling fan

You don't have the fan switch in the head? If not, your fan never receives a ground signal to turn on.

Find the connector and plug it back in. Is there a sensor in the head without anything connected to it?

Re: Cooling fan

The knock sensor plug and the and the fan switch plug are very similar....... The plug for the fan switch to the relay should have a GREEN/White wire.

Here is the schematic for your electric fan:

You'll need to install a head-mounted sensor and then connect the proper circuit from the switch to the relay. If you still have a problem after the switch and plug are in place,... then start to try to diagnose further.

Re: Cooling fan

Thanks y’all for the help, I think I’ve found my problem, I need a new harness i bought the car for $500 it needs a lot of work was not running when I bought it. Finally got it running a couple of week ago and the engine harness has definitely been messed with, a lot of butt connectors.what’s not to say that wire got cut off. I’ll probably buy the sensor and the pig tail for and just tap it into the fans relay ground for the time being while I find a harness.

Yep, sounds your car has been "modded" by a previous owner. Good luck with that.

Re: Cooling fan

If you stock harness is fubared by a pervious owner you can always make your own fan harness. Here is an example.
