Anyone have experience running a dual 12" aluminum fan shroud on a TPI car? I put a champion two core in my IROC and I'm not exactly thrilled with the not moving cooling performance, but I'm worried that moving performance will suffer due to the slight restriction and the way air is ducted. Probably gonna mess with the prom this weekend to get the fan to come on way earlier and see how that works out but I'm not exactly sold on the performance of the stock fan system.
I had similar issues on my car. It's not a tpi car but the champion radiator fans were less than adequate. I swapped in 2 spal 30103202HO. They needed a wiring and relay upgrade to run but cool really well.
So I don't have one yet, just the stock fan setup. I do have one on my sport coupe but the front end is gutted and I just have the small chin spoiler so I get tons of airflow through the front of the car rather than from under. I also have some spal 1470 cfm fans, which... maybe... might... be a bit excessive, since with both running it'll pull down from 190f to 160f in about 1.5min. I do have the spal 800 cfm fans that were on there which I was planning on putting in the IROC if I get the shroud.
When I bought my Champion rad and shroud the shroud has almost no where to allow air to flow through at highway speeds so I started adding holes to it and covering them up with the SPAL shroud flaps ($3 on Summit). The champ shrouds sit too close to the radiator for sufficient airflow and MUST be vented. Had issues with the car cooling at highway speeds too so I started adding holes. Started with 4, just added 8 more and now that it’s summer in Texas, once the engine is put back together (doing cam swap), I’ll get to know if it’s sufficient now. Plus the fan that came with it didn’t last very long so I’ve since upgraded that as well. Never overheats on the highway, just doesn’t cool well.

So I found that the line from the expansion tank was bad at the radiator, I'm assuming it was able to push coolant out but when it tried to suck it back it just got air. Got that replaced, have to see how it works out. But more relevant I let it idle until the temp gauge got up over the 220 line and shorted the AC fan switch connector to get both fans to come on. They were able to pull it down to almost the first line in short order, so clearly they work and work well. Now on to get the fans to come on earlier than 226°f.
So an update/closure on this issue, the stock fans are way more than sufficient to keep cool with a bigger radiator. Finally got around to getting the AC fixed today and obviously had to run it to charge. It was probably a good 90f ambient idling for probably more than 30m. With both fans running the coolant temp stayed just a hair over the first line.
