Electric cooling fan motor replacement

I’ve got a 1984 TA with L69 HO 5.0 and manual transmission. The stock fan, which is a single electric fan, was very loud when it turns on so I bought a stock replacement motor, ADO-15-8498. The problem is a little lip on the drive plate on the new one that isn’t on the original motor which prevents the fan from seating so o can’t get the fastener on. I can’t find anything different than what I bought. Any ideas? I was hoping to just swap the motor and not have to deal with retrofitting an aftermarket fan etc.

top pic is the original, second is the new one

Also the directions seem to contemplate a thin drive plate option but can’t find it referenced anywhere or where to purchase.

I thought the same thing but any idea how I would be able to remove it? It seem like it was pressed on.

I actually just swapped my fan motor from the one on rockauto's website a few months ago. That little washer thing came off and the original fan fit right on with no problem.

Re: Electric cooling fan motor replacement

The delco motors al lseem to have that.. it fits the dual fan blades perfect.

As I recal lif you got the delco unit you needed to also get a new fan / blade..im not sure if that is stil lan option.

but most other aftermarket motors dont have that / have a separate removeable piece

Un press it. Use a puller. Easy button.

I can't find the order information but I think it was either the VDO or the Four Seasons.

Re: Electric cooling fan motor replacement

Hey all just wanted to close the loop. Went with the Continental pm517 fan motor from rockauto and fits perfect. That washer is removable. Thanks!
