Where is my ECM??? t/a 87

Can anyone help me, Mitchell on demand say it's on right side of dash board, can't find it! If you had any picture that could help, i mean there must be alots of wires going to it!!!

Like the signature say, it's 1987 4bbl LG4.
My problem is the check engine , choke & shiftup light dont work,
when key to on, there shut.
I have then try a Snap-on scanner on the connector and i get no communication with the ECM!!

Also where is the Driver Light thing linked to the ecm in my wireing diagrams...

In mitchell procedure i need to disconnect the computer :}

Its either behind what would be the glovebox or behind the right kick-panel. Its an aluminum box, unless its been changed to an aftermarket ecm.

Would that position be also the same for an 87 GTA TA?

Should be. Remove the kick panel on the passenger side and look up. If you see a square aluminum box mounted where the glove box would be...that's it.

Ok thanks, i just recently looked inside there to disable the motor to my antenna, since it messed, but didnt pay attention for an aluminum box. If its there, great, its a good and accessible position.

Thanks.

ok i think the aqua little box is the light driver module
i can open the back of it and it's empty inside, if anyone know if it is realy the Light driver module and if it is suppose to be empty, the shape of it look like you can connect something into it, like a "module" !! anyway if i get no response before tomorrow i'll check it out in a 86 firebird that we have at school...

Did you check to see if the bulbs are just burned out? Had a problem in my old '87 IROC (RIP), and after hours of messing around with the ECM and scanners and finding nothing wrong, it was just a bruned out bulb

i stopped looking for the ecm when one of the teachers at my mechanic school told me too look if i had a tps on my carb, no i dont... so now i'll just look into how to tune the thing so i dont get that rich... i get a smoke cloud when i start it (yes and my valve seal make me burn oil, but it smell gas).

The first thing I would check is the choke operation. If it is hanging shut even a little you will be rich to the point of black smoke. Your valve stem seals should make a blueish smoke and should show up on your plugs as oily. Rich mixture should show up as a wet look that smells gasy.
