Do not know all of the details on this one, but your O2 sensor may be the cause.

As far as I know, unless I am wrong. 44 is Oxygen sensor lean and 45 is oxygen sensor rich.

I would imagine this being the same. What manual are you looking at? I use Chilton's and Haynes.

Im throwing a code 44 how to I fix it just replace it? It was supossedly replaced right when I got it because it would not pass smog and that was one of the reasons and they said they replaced the EGR and the o2 but maybe they didn't? She is wasting more gas now than she did before, so what do I do guys?!

Any update, Mia?

I just ran the codes on an 87 TPI. Came up with 13, 34, & 44.

I am replacing the O2 Sensor. I figured 13, and 44 would usually come together.

13 - Oxygen Sensor Signal Problem or Loss

44 - Oxygen Sensor Lean Error

34 has to do with the MAF Sensor. I am hoping the O2 Sensor might help fix this.
