best and most cost effective chips??

Where can i get a custom TPI chip burnt for the most reasonable price. I don't want to spend a ton but I do know that it's not cheap. Anyone that knows where and how much I'm gonna spend would be greatly appreciated.

It will be cheapest in a long run for you to learn and burn your own.

A good tuner is expensive.
There is no such thing as a universal perfect tune, each engine is different.
So your car would have to go to the tuner, tuning by phone is comical at best.

I understand that fully but I am on a budge like most people so I'm kinda stuck with getting one that "works". I'm just wondering first if there's anyone near chicago that does it and two if not which is the best "mail order" place. I know of ed wright but I don't like the idea of sending him all the info and him burn one that may not work and be out $350. If I had the extra money I would learn to burn my own but it also dosn't help that my comoputer is slow as a snail. I'm just wondering where people hae gotten them, how much they like them, and approx. cost. I know a buddy got his from TPIS but it cost about $650, I don't have that kind of money.

Clever shopping and for about $200 you could be doing your own.

how, where, and YES!! I'm all for it, if you're telling me that I can buy the program and everything I need for $200 then I'm in. I'll even start burnin' them for my buddy. Where would I get this stuff, how do I learn to do it, etc. This could be really useful, thanks.

Have you read this tech article by Traxion? It contains absolutely loads of information that you'll need, including links to places you can buy the stuff you need.

Good luck with things.

yeah I found it and I'm planning on getting the equiptment and what not but currently I'm in the middle of actually putting the TPI in the car and trying to get my 91 T/A harness to work in my 90 RS. Fun stuff re-routing wires is.

Check out the link Dr. G posted. I ordered all the chips, Zif socket, adapter and a pocket programmer for like $225 after shipping and everthing. It's also got a ton of great links to figure out the tuning aspect. Now I just have to get the BIN right for this Friggin' cam I'm running cause the 305 memcal is running my 357 but the 350 memcal won't even let the darn car Idle. It doesn't help that i'm pulling 15" of vaccum if I'm lucky. It runs more around 11-13" at 1000 RPM. Fun stuff and I'm looking forward to playing on the dyno once I figure out my basic settings.

Chris

BTW Thanks guys for the links and the help.:hail: :hail: :hail:
