Are all ALDL plugs the same?
I just bought an Auto Xray for my car, and when I went to use it, it said "Vehicle Not Responding"
It keeps saying that. It is for OBD1 GM vehicles. The guy I bought it from used it on his 95 Trans Am. When I looked at the plug and the plug under my dash, it doesn't look like it will work. My cars ALDL connector looks like this:
Dash
___________|x|x| |x|x|x|
Driver's Side |x| | | | |x| Passenger side
The x's are where there is a little metal connector in the slot.
And on the plug that came with my Auto Xray looks like this:
Passenger Side |x|x| |x|x| | Driver Side
_____________|x| | | | | |
So as you can see, it looks like the 3rd connector on the AX plug is going into the spot with no connection on my cars ALDL. Do I need another plug?
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

And yes the difference is the position of the data link pin.
Most of the later ones, tie the two pins together and then are universal.
