I'm asking for help from all you dfi gods out there. I'm about to start my gen 7 install in the next couple of weeks and would like some tips from what you learned on your installs. Also if you have any good starting programs I'm be greatful. I've got a zz4 with a superram and 24# injectors. I'm not planning on using one of the "use your own harness adapters". I'm just planning to rip out the old one and ditch all my emmissions crap. I've got the basic kit and I'm ordering the dual sync dist and harness. Are there any other harnesses or stuff I should get? forget the dual sync, run it batch. Spend your money on a wideband 02 kit.

Let me know when you are ready to turn the key. DFI makes a Plug 'N Play kit for that crate package, and I may be able to get you the calibration file for it.

If you are tuning it yourself, a Wideband O2 would make things easier, but if you are planning on having someone else tune it for you, don't buy one. Once tuned, the car will be fine with just a HEGO sensor.

I'll let you know when I'm ready. I really would like to get the wideband o2 but it costs a pretty penny. The best price I've seen is around 950. I'm going to look for a place to help me tune. That might be a better option right now but I'd hate to have to drop the money again in the future when I start tinkering with the engine some more. I was planning on swapping cams and getting some head work done. If you can get me that calibration file it would probably help a lot. Thanks, Josh

Is it possible to run an external WB and data log it through the DFI system? If so then look at the DIY-WB (www.diy-wb.org). Even if you are not auto-tuning with it, they are a great asset.

Do you know what kind of input the Gen7 ecu accepts for wideband O2? Would the LM-1 from www.innovatemotorsports.com work?

I would be alot cheaper than the accel kit. Acctually do you know what the Accel wideband kit comes with? I have DFI gen7 sitting in my room waiting, but I want to get a wideband first.

The DFI system only works with the DFI wideband. This is pretty typical of aftermarket stuff. There is no provision to program the voltage vs. A:F ratio curve, so you can't just hook another sensor up. It wouldn't be read accurately. Although, since the DFI is looking for just a 0-5 volt signal from the O2 sensor, theoretically you could hook any one up and see what it reads, as long as you stay in open loop fueling.

The DFI wideband kit comes with the sensor, a signal conditioner, and a discrete output. It plugs into the HEGO input in the Gen 7+ harness, or you can use it as a complete standalone system. The voltage on the discrete output corresponds to actual A:F ratio, ie: 14.5 volts == 14.5 A:F, so you can read it with a meter.

How much is the actual Wide band o2 sensor to replace?? That is awful expensive for an option. Is the $1000 price justified by other electronics it comes with or something?
