you can get a new prom burned without the limiter. The limiter is put there based on tire speed rating so if you delete the limiter, make sure you have tires rated for higher speeds. With a 305 I'm sure H rated tires would be sufficient.
Or the hack way of disconnecting the VSS, which will not allow the computer to know the speed, but unfortunately you will lose your speedo too, so that sucks.
And if anyone tries to tell you that you can bounce off the limiter 6 or 7 times and burn out that circuit, dont listen to them, thats bs, i know cause my 90 Bird had a limiter and I'd be willing to bet I bounced it off the limiter at least 100 times and its never stopped working.

not sure if there are any sponsors here from chip burning, but you could try doing a web search for pcm chip burning, I do know of one place I think burns the chips, its www.pcmforless.com I think thats the address anyway. Here is the page you want:

are there any alternatives besides chip burning to do this? I no that superchips does not make a model for 92 camaros but are there any other makers out there?

No. It is either that or put a disconnect switch on the VSS, which causes its own problems.
You could also get the chip burning equipment and do it yourself.

Re: Does any one no how to remove the limiter on my 92 camaro tbi rs ?
ive had a switch hooked up to my vss for about a year now. i havnt had any problems.....the only things i know about it is that, when you turn the vss off. your rpms go up a couple hundred. while having it off for a minute or so, the check engine light comes on. the computer is on the passenger side under the dash.. i think the vss is the brown wire with black stripe? im not even half sure on that. lol. been soo long since ive done it.
but if you remove the vss permenantly. im sure you will have problems.
if hooked to a switch. you will have to shift to over drive, back off the throttle until it shifts then give it more gas slowly. our cars dont have the WOT d to OD capabilities.

Yes, because the torque convertor unlocks. It is not very good for your transmission, because at that speed the transmission will have some serious convertor slip and it will generate a boatload of heat.

i thought so when i had my 145 speedometer it didn't hold me back but when i fried it i replaced it with the 0-110 out of a v-6 and now it stops me at 100 so i got currious and unpluggeed the wire off of the tranny and i could go as fast as i could my car even shifted once more around 100. thats cool now i know i wasn't actually hurting the car.

What about a t5 manual car, hitting speed limiter is like hitting brick wall

yeah instead of stopping at 100 it went all the way to 145 and pegged thats when i fried it and stripped the gear on the speedosensor but when i replaced all of it it regulated it at 100.

Cluster has no bearing on the limiter. you either had a screwed up 145mph cluster or a wiring or gear issue.

i just fixed this problem. when you drive dose your car ever top out? if not and it feels realy fast and then shifts, i had the same problem. forhand warrnig when you fix the speedo. the speed reg will kick back in. all you have to do is take off the sensor on the tranny that looks like a big circle. (before you get anew one wiggle the shaft up and down if it moves more than a1/8 in back and forth you will need a new one.) get a new one swap over the big cone shaped gear ( if gear looks a bit worn off go to any local tranny shop to get a new one) and put it back in drive down the road a couple times and the speedo will work again.

I know if you hook up an msd 6al box it over-rides the limiter, It did with my 92 RS before I swapped it over to a carb.

Re: Does any one no how to remove the limiter on my 92 camaro tbi rs ?
That is the biggest line of BS that I have heard. A look into the code side of the ECM will explain why. The speed limiter is NOT an ignition kill. It is a fuel kill. When the car reaches 110 mph, it shuts off the fuel injectors and fuel pump relay, until the car drops below 108 mph.

Re: Does any one no how to remove the limiter on my 92 camaro tbi rs ?
want to do something stupid like this, on the cheap? heres two ways.
way1:
simple on/off switch.
cut the sensor wire coming from your VSS (one is ground, other is the sensor)... on electronic speedo cars, its on the transmission.. on cable speedo cars, its in the cluster.
wire the switch in the cut wires.
now go floor your car... and when you get going fast and have it floored, flip the switch.... dont worry, you'll have plenty of time to flip it, since if you need to do this, you have a stock motor anyway. LOL!!! (i joke i joke)
when you flip it, if you have an electric speedo, it will goto zero. this is moot as your speedo only reads to 110 anyway.
if you have a mechanical speedo.. it still works.... well, it will eventually break if you peg it out alot.. but thats doubtful.
as for the torque converter unlocking... its always unlocked at WOT anyway.. this is a moot issue too. BUUUUUT
say you wanted the TQ converter clutch locked for thehell of it.
make the switch a DPDT switch.
now when you turn off the VSS, have it put power in to the TQ converter lockup wire.... now you have your locked trans, and you can go as fast as you have power for.
all that said.. its a stupid idea. if you choose to do this, i thank you for your choice of leaving the gene pool. thankfully most of you are young and without kids, so there wont be any orphans, but try not to take anyone else out with you... thanks.

There are only two ways to do this. Change the prom in the computer, or disable the speedometer input to the computer with a switch.
I dont know what a genysis or genisis is.

A genysis? the $5000 computer usually found in mechanics shops that plug into an obd1 or obd2 port in your car and tells you exactly what is wrong with your car.
i figure that if you can change other portions of the progamming with it, i wonder if i could remove the speedlimiter with it and still keep my speedometer.

Not with obd-I. obd-I isn't flashable like obd-II. You need to physically remove the chip, use a UV eraser to erase it, and then reprogram it.
