need ecu help!!!??
ok so i am about to get myself a new project car its a Porsche 944. yes i kow this is a camaro forum i use it for my 88 rs ,but i tought you guys could help me out. ok its a 1989 porsche 944 5 speed and the guy that is selling it says hey did all the top end work and change the timing chain. he says the car ran like a dream untill on day it just started sputtering and it never turned on again. he says the injectors are working properly ,compression is good ,fuel pump is good. he says it is the ecu. he says that by changing to another ecu it will work fine.the car is 800 bucks , new paint top end work done, he says he just dosent want to spend more money on it... so is it the ecu or......

Check the basics... fuses, then spark and fuel. Missing spark and/or fuel, gotta figure out why. FSM would be good here, but I don't know the quality of Porsche manuals (or availability for that matter).

i am at a loss i still need to check trouble codes.... but any idea why im not getting a spark? i have been told that the porsche 944's are notorious for blowing ecu's
i was told that by swithching to a good ecu it will fire up. Trending Topics

Could be the input to the ECU... not sure how porsche does it. Might be in the distributor, might be a bad ECU. I had a problem with my GTA where it would sporadically give no spark; wound up being a bad wire in the distributor harness. Wired in a new pigtail and voila, problem solved. I figured it out by using a scanner (moates cable and s/w) to see that I wasn't getting any RPM to the ECM. If you know someone nearby that you could swap ECUs with to do a test, that would be an easy way. There's likely a local porsche club to you.
