Just installed Accel DFI Gen 7 need some help
Hi guys, is anyone here running the standard 700r4 with an Accel Gen 7 DFI Set up? im trying to figure out the best way to get my speedometer to work, also tranny and A/C. Has anyone here ever made this work? I know Dakota Digital makes some sort of signal converter that might work for the speedo but i dont know what to do as far as the tranny and A/C, any help would be great!
Re: Just installed Accel DFI Gen 7 need some help
The speedometer cable doesn't attach to the Gen 7 box so the install should not have impacted that. I run a Gen 7 Thruster system and the speedo is not an item we had to touch at all during the installation.
Accel sells wiring harnesses to set the TC lockup for the tranny and to shut off the AC at WOT. I have the harness for the TC but am going to try my luck on the high pressure switch shutting off the AC when I forget to throw the switch manually.
Everything else about the tranny and the AC are not controlled by the ECM so they should work the same with the Gen 7 as they did with the stock ECM.

Is that still true in the 91-92 models though, my car has some sort of Speedometer delete option which idk what that really means, aren't the speedo's electronic on the newer models? correct me if im wrong but i thought they were

I installed the DFI in a 92 RS that got a full drivetrain swap. The electronic speedo goes through a VSS buffer for the cruise control and then to the speedo. It doesn't attach to the ECM directly though. I pulled the ECM and the underhood portion of the harness and the speedo still works fine.

Your A/C will work just the same, it just won't kick off when you go WOT. The HP sensor will kick it off when the compressor builds to much pressure though, so it may feel kind of sluggish if you stomp it with the A/C on.
If you are running an aftermarket converter make sure it's a lock up one before you spend the money on the TCC circut for the Gen 7.
Also as Beater stated the speedo doesnt go through the ECM. There should be a yellow IIRC (maybe black?) box under the pass side of the dash near the ECM, that is the VSS has like 5 wires going to it I think.
