Im looking for ways to verify what this is and contains.
The sticker on the housing says 16198259, the blue chip inside says apyy 1613.

 

APYY looks to be for a 89 F-body with the 5.0TPI, a 700R4, california emissions package and either 2.73 or 2.77 gears.

 

Where do you find that info?
This was supposedly for a 5spd?

if you grab a VIN from a same year vehicle and engine(cars.com usually works for me), you can select trans and emissions packages and see what applied.

it looks like for an 89 with a F code motor with automatic and california emissions, the factory released ANYZ and APYY.

 

I went to cars.com, but cant find any vins. ?


What is the dif between proms for Auto and Manual? (I am running a manual)

I double checked. The guy said this is an 89' Camaro LB9 with T5 trans.

i then opened this ad:

and grabbed the VIN of the car. notice the 8th digit in the VIN is F, that's the engine.

so we paste that car's VIN into the GM site, select automatic, then california, and you'll see APYY.

someone has their wires crossed.

 

I concur, the info I have also indicates 1989 5.0L, Auto. ECM is a 1227165.
