ecm pulse?
I have a 92 Camaro 305tbi factory and swapped a mechanical driven trans in there, now the vss I bought sends a 4k pulse, I hear 90-92 ecm use 4k pulse... till I read somewhere the tbi uses 2k pulse. so which is it? did I buy the wrong vss?

Re: ecm pulse?
All '92 f-body's use a 4K PPM magnetic VSS. This signal is then buffered. In a TBI car it is buffered via the yellow 4-OUT BUFFER box located under the passenger side dash.

Re: ecm pulse?
ok great thanks a lot, think you can help with another problem? before I swapped the trans the speedo worked, but now since I swapped them and b4 I hooked the new vss up it stayed at 30, but now that the vss is hooked up it still stays at 30 but when going above 30 will jump to 60 and stay. check engine light comes on and off for s few seconds, not long enough for me to pull the code. got any ideas on that?

Re: ecm pulse?
ahaha theres that thread. no I didn't get that part, shouldn't need it... right? tried reading that thread again and got confused. having an off day.
plugs right into the harness, but could I splice the VSS into the harness after the buffer box to fix the problem? I really don't have the money for that new box.

Re: ecm pulse?
sorry if this is in the wrong area, let me now and ill post in the correct thread.
update: after the dash gauge went into the red temp zone, and the fan never kicked on I finally got the codes its flashing.
code 12: speed ref. pulse
code 24: VSS
obv the ecm isn't seeing the correct pulse so now I want to now. ive been told now that yes the 4k ppm vss I have is the correct one, but im also told its not, that I need the 2k ppm. so which one is it? do I need the 4k ppm or 2k ppm to the buffer box?
if the 4k ppm is the correct one I have going to the buffer now, could the buffer box be bad (even though is was working perfectly before I swapped trans) or is the vss bad? or possably to tight on the mechanical speedo on the trans?
lastly the 4 prong plug in line with the 2 prong plug that I have connected to the vss, that is for the toqure converter correct? shouldn't have anything to do with my vss problem... atleast that's what I think, just want to make sure.
thanks for any and all help.

Re: ecm pulse?
This is the vss buffer that you need, there will be a 4k output for the speedo and a 2k output for the ECM. There is a third for cruise but I can't remember if it's 2k or 4k.
