Stumped on datalogging

Copied and pasted below off my old build thread since it didn't get any responses......

Hi all, I've been away and off the forum for a long time (REALLY BUSY). I've had my Iroc sitting for 6 months now and don't know what else to do at this point. I got a laptop, a Moates ALDL cable, and never could get tunerpro to work for me to datalog so I could send to Tunedperformance for re-tune. 1rst tune not running good) The dang thing is DONE other than tuning and I'm extremely frustrated. Thinking of cutting my losses and towing it somewhere to get it tuned (depending on cost). Could anyone tell me what you think is the best way to resolve this? Tunedperformance said I need to datalog it so he can dial it in. I've tried everything and can't do it ( I'm not very smart on computers).....

There's someplace in Cincinnati called LT1.com or something. You fill out an order form sheet and send them entire ecm/memcal and they program it for you and send it back but they also mention something about data logging so I might get in the same situation and dead in the water.

Figured I'd vent to you guys and maybe get a new direction or some sort of hope. PLEASE HELP! My poor Iroc has been sitting dormant collecting dust and it's about winter time.

Any advice or constructive criticism would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you have an android phone, you might want to try an ALDL bluetooth adapter and ALDLDroid. I've been using them and they are very easy to use. Tunerpro can be real tough to get connected. I got the adapter from 1320 Electronics. The owner is real helpful. So is the developer of ALDLDroid.

Here's a link I stumbled across, stuff about adding .adx files specific to your car. I don't know because I haven't used tunerpro yet. But maybe this will be helpful.

Re: Stumped on datalogging

Okay, I think you can do it with what you have, it's just a little hard to set up. Everyone has issues. Tell everyone what OS you have on your computer. Also, did the adapter come with a driver? Some of the cables have an FTDI chip inside. There have been issues lately if the FTDI chip was a fake. I don't think Moates would have fake chips though. They are very reputable. When you go into Tunerpro, what are you doing to connect? some of us can try on our side to duplicate. Also, www.gearhed-efi.com has a section just for Tunerpro. Maybe we can get you some help there too.

Re: Stumped on datalogging

Yes, but I'm struggling to find an .ADX file specific to the 730 ECM. It keeps saving it as target link or a .ECU file.

The 165 ADX file saved and loaded correctly.....so I'm at a standstill too.

Re: Stumped on datalogging

Are you getting any data at all into TP? Is a dash working? It was frustrating for me too and I'm in IT full time. I checked a bunch of stuff and finally a reboot mysteriously got it working. I had it running under XP and when I upgraded the laptop to Win7 that worked too so it is good for both OS's. Did you make sure the laptop comm port is recognizing the cable and TP is set to use that comm port?

Oh and make sure the cable is connected *before* starting TP.

Re: Stumped on datalogging

I found these too, I haven't tried any of these but they worked in his videos!

https://www.youtube.com/user/RedDevilRiver/videos

I think my confusion about it was which definitions I needed, since I'm not altering any .bin(s) I just needed the file for data logging.

Re: Stumped on datalogging

For a '90 - '92 TPI set up, need an ADS or ADX file for the $8D mask.
