I have a 1988 Iroc-z, 5.7 liter, 3.27 rear, automatic transmission. I called the dealer and it shows I need an AKXX for my model camaro. All I can find is an AKXZ with tons of searches and phone calls. Just wanting to know if I can use the AKXZ in it's place. From research on this site it appears that one is for the VATS system (AKXZ) and mine without VATS (AKXX). I bought the car and changed the fuel pump and cap, rotor, plugs, wires and pickup coil. Need replacing because mice had chewed through a lot of it. Also has new ignition coil. I tried to start it but it was just put put putting, so I tried to check the codes according to my Haynes repair manual. Well when I shorted across terminals a and b in the OBD, the service engine light would just stay on and not flash or anything so I googled it. Sure enough this site pointed me to the ECM. Upon further inspection I noticed the ECM was replaced and did not have a memcal inside it, so now I'm asking for y'all's help. I'm guessing maybe the last owner brought the ECM core in and forgot the memcal inside. Thanks

can also use any 87 calibration or custom tuned 89 calibration.
