EBL Flash-II w/Boosted Stock 305 TPI...

... just wrapped up a tune for one of our member's in the third gen community running a stock 305-TPI w/boost in his 1988 Iroc-Z. This particular build I really enjoyed working with because James (the owner) maintained the stock setup, and essentially just installed larger injectors (40# @ 43.5-psi), and a 2-Bar MAP sensor. Though future plans now call for a few more changes to the stock engine, which will be extremely beneficial when installed and dialed in. It was James himself who wanted to share the tune with others running a stock 305-TPI and turbo(s), with similarly sized injectors and MAP sensor. The tune itself was focused on the overall drivability, not just boost tuning, so every area was gone over thoroughly through datalog after datalog. Targeted 11.0 AFR during boost, considered 11.5 AFR but with the stock compression and ring gap I didn't want to compromise anything as this car will be driven and enjoyed very frequently. Timing is set to 15* SA during boost. Remember though, every engine is different, and not every injector flows exactly the same for two different applications, so some tweaking will need to be done to maintain safe boost levels. But that is an obvious given. Engine seems to really love it. Remember though guys, the stock piston rings for the LB9 were never tailored for boost like they were for the Turbo Buicks and GMC Syclone's, so try to keep your CTS and IAT as cool as possible, watch those EGT's if you have that ability to, and try to limit boost pressure to a feasible level to keep those rings from expanding too much. It's a stock engine w/stock compression and rings, never ever forget. However, if the engine is built for boost along with the proper ring gap, that is a completely different story.

Will be sending Dynamic EFI the Bin...

Enjoy,

- Rob

So what would you charge for something like this just out of curiosity?

You’re actually too far from me but may look for someone more local for something like this.

I don't charge for this, it's my way of giving back to the community... though what I am doing is EBL Flash II and EBL P4 exclusive. The above is basically for the members who want to install a supercharger or turbo on an essentially stock 305 Tuned Port Injection engine, just Flash it in and go. Normally the only areas that will need to be touched up are the VE tables, and that is mainly because of varying Injector Flow, and location, which should only take seconds for the user to adjust.

... very unsuspecting as well, running a twin turbo rear mount setup. Well done James.

That's badass Rob. Nice job! Maybe sometime I will do a boosted CF, but after this one is done and running well.

Tom, we need to wrap yours up. Just finished Chuck's 383 '84 Corvette w/CFI, just waiting on one last datalog from him to dial in one last area. Other than that, he is good to go and ready to race...

I hear ya Rob and believe it or not, today has been the first VERY cool day here under 100*...It was 86* today. I dropped my car off again at my friends shop again to have him do some under dash work that I DO NOT WANT TO DO. There are some jobs as a taller guy that you do not want to do on a corvette, under the dash is one of them. Ugh!

I should have it back this week for sure and if the weather holds out, I will get hot on it again. I have a few things to do like wire up the new WB controller to help out with the tune since my old one went south on me. Still waiting on my new TBs to be finished by my machinist...Two months now, WTF?! I also got with Bob and will send you what he sent me concerning the injectors/VE that you were inquiring about not long ago.

Thanks for the photo, I can feel the power! I am currently upgrading my old Dodge 1500. First of all, I want to replace the air intake and intercooler as the car is overheating. The new intercooler will solve this problem, as well as add power and reduce fuel consumption. Found a site https://boostyourengine.com/5-9-cumm...ooler-upgrade/ where you can find the best 5.9 Cummins Aftermarket Intercooler, there are many upgrade options, maybe someone will come in handy.
