1987 Chev 350 TBI no fuel out injector
Hi all,
I have a 1987 Chev 3/4, 350 TBI, 4 spd, that has been parked for about 4-5 years, ran perfect when I parked it. Went to move it the other day but didn't want to use the old gas in the tank so i pulled the intake fuel line off the back of throttle body and put in a connector and hose to a boat gas can with a high pressure inline fuel pump. My idea was drive it to the garage, drop tank empty gas in it and start working on cleaning it up to use again. I have fuel pressure for sure but the injectors aren't firing. I can pour a ounce of gas down each throttle body and it fires right up and runs for 8-10 seconds. I'm pretty crappy at diagnosing electrical issues, but did check all fuses in fuse box they are good.
I did one really dumb thing that is likely causing my issue: I leant the truck to a buddy for a summer before I parked it, to put is box camper in. Apparently he wired it to have power to the camper. The black hose came up through box right above the gas tank on driver's side that I took our because it was leaking. It had an end on it that looked exactly like one you put into a boat's gas can ( in low light when I looked) so I thought for some strange reason he used the fuel line for a extra tank in the box. Well, I grabbed a big set of wire cutters and snipped the entire line in one squeeze. Once the sparks flew I realized what I'd done. Only thing I can think of is if a fuse didn't protect a live circuit when I grounded it cutting through I shorted something, ECM? Any help where to start trouble shooting would be appreciated. As I said, I checked every fuse in fuse box under dash on the driver's side all good. It will run when pouring bit of gas down throttle body.
Thanks in advance.

The injectors are probably seized up. You can use a 9 volt battery to test them and see if they open. They make a click when they work. If they won't open they need to be cleaned.

I was going to local parts store today to see if I can buy or rent noir light. I haven’t tested power yet, to be honest was going to pick through threads today to see if there is a good explanation on how to do this.
the in line pump I used was 11 or 13 psi. I only need it to run low at low rpm, just want to drive it in from field to the shop.

do I just take 9 volt battery with 2 wires touch one to positive side of injector one to negative?

reply 3 is good-TBI injectors like to stick when they sit unused for years.I have never tried using a 9 volt battery ,but have had good luck gently bumping the injectors with the blunt end of a center punch-right between the terminal pins

Yeah, a 9 volt will test them but not free them up. Yo can use 2 wires from the battery and just skim them to the contacts. Either way you should hear a click. If no click they're seized.

Thanks for all the help got it going. Tried noid light first, both flashed bright. Gave injectors light tap on top with punch/hammer and fired right up. Idled like had run every day for years.
Appreciate the advice guys thank you.
