Can you guys help
Guys I have been fighting with this setup for two weeks now. Its really starting to get the best of me. Perhaps you can shed some light on items to help remedy the problem. Some of you already have helped. Thanks for the assistance.

Like I was saying earlier, it is entirely possible that the car somehow got the wrong converter installed and the extremely low stall speed is all that is killing you. And from the way you describe it coming out of the hole, I can see that kind of 'bog' hurting your mph a little bit too. I mean the converter usually doesn't have much to do with it, but cutting 2.2ish 60 foots and turning 13s is a very odd combination.... Really points at the converter since you don't spin much (at all?). I think your idea of leaving it be until you get the converter in is a good idea too..... Bad things tend to happen to tools and parts when you push it when you are already frustrated....

Matt,
Yeah I have been laying off of it for the past 2-3 nights. I do have an uncontrollable urge to tear into it, but I am refraining till the converter comes.
I was watching the video and I get ZERO, ziltch, none. Wheel spin. That converter has to be totally wrong or something. I nearly stopped at the guys house that owned it before and asked him if something was ever done to it. I bet he replaced it was a junk one or that one quite working and he thought it was something else and decided to sell it.
The car is in mint condidtion, minus the front now
That will be fixed in no time though and most of it could just be buffed out. Still I made the insurance pay the cost of full replacement. Thay are sending out the check Monday/Tuesday.
Just seems odd that there is no wheel spin. I know this is not accurate, but we were timing the car today while watching the videos and it took about 2.2 sec on average to hear the car come alive. Surely with it being in the power band right from the get-go with the 3200 Vilgilate. I can't imaging not loosing 1 sec easily off my ET. Watching its was like only rolling the first 60' and then flooring the car. I bet I get back into the MPH range I should be into too. Its really bad if you would see it. I will try to post before and after videos after I get the TC installed. Another analogy would be cutting the track off by ~60' surely you wouldn't run as high MPH. I realize this is all subject to other factors, but if you saw the vid or rode in the car you would surely notice what I am talking about.
Just keep you fingers crossed for me that this fixes the problem and puts me into the 12s.

What gears are you running? I would say a Vigilante would definatly help. My factory stall bogged the engine and I have a 196/206 cam...not nearly as big as yours. The GM TC ("S-10" converter") helped ALOT.

Sounds good Ski. I'm really optimistic about how the car will go with that TC.
Hey Captain, how do you like that TC? I always wondered what the S-10 converter would act like behind a stout V8.... That thing has dual stators too which should REALLY make it move out of the hole

Get those friggin gears out of there! OMG! Gears and a Stall convertor will liven that car right up. Just a switch from 2.77-3.73 gears in my stock Iroc totally ceased any engine bog I used to have.
Yes I know 2.77 is a 9 bolt(technically an 8 bolt for those "in the know") ratio and 3.73 is a 10 bolt ratio. I had to switch.

.A gear change would help you, along with the higher stall converter, Ski. I don't know what you usually do with the car, but if it is only a drag oriented car, you could put in anything up to about a 3.73ish ratio (I feel any higher of a gear just is not a good combination with the 700R4 and its extremely low first gear) and it will really help the car perform at the strip. If it is primarily a street car, a gear in the 3.4x or maybe 3.5x area would help at the drag strip a bunch and still be comfortable on the street.

Matt

Hmmmmmm! More money to spend. Great. I keep it up at this rate the women will never marry men!
She recently took the money and paid everything off for the wedding, she said I had a crazy look in my eye the other day after coming in from working on the car and she was getting everything paid off for the wedding before she left for Oregon. She said she would be afraid to come back to PA and find that I spent it all on the car. (now would I do something like that? )
The car is primarily just a toy that I drive on occasion. I have several other that I drive on a daily basis. Therefore I will probably go with deeper gears once the gears are needed.
I have heard that the Dana 36 that is in the vette now will NOT last with a vigilante and slicks. Is this true?
I will most likely go to a Dana 44 with steeper gears if this does happen. I just want to get it off the line faster than my kids bike for now. Thanks for the info.
