Laptop Mounting...
Hey guys...shooting for ideas here...
I get the feeling I'll be using my laptop extensively in the car when I start tuning my proms for the 383.
And my learning curve is probably going to be several hours and days on that laptop as I test with my 2.8L engine.
How many of you mount the laptop somewhere in the car? Has anyone made a custom mount that is comfortable for the driver to reach, as well as the passenger?
I have an '88 bird...the console is and will stay removed...so there's room for hardware...
Who's got ideas for the stupid n00b?

Like this? It was made with some extra angle iron, extra sheet metal, a grinder, a hack saw, a $5 k-mart adjustable in-car cloths hanging rack (for the swivel tube part adjustable height etc), and some welding with some misc hardware.
All in all it was about 2 hours work mostly prepping for the welding and being careful not to burn through the thin pipe. The rest was simply measured and cut to length. Grinding the angle iron for a slot and the other end ot be some what flush with the pipe standing vertical.

Good stuff man! Thanks...
Bet my gramps and I could pull off a sweet job like that...Especially since I don't have an interior to worry about burning...
Do you have any problems with vibration and the laptop??
How comfy is the passenger with that thing in there?

It's comfy and I built a jig out of wood before welding. The passengers don't feel it because it's low enough and the height is adjustable.
Never had a problem with vibration unless I'm on the highway and the thing makes some noise (what do you expect for $7).

So that's a clothes hanging rack? I'm confused... can't find anything like that...and am too stupid to think of anything to use for swivel and height adjustments...

Best prices I could find are here.. My company just ordered a bunch for and industrial project and I can tell you they are first rate, fully adjustable and can be easily removed from the base for a passenger....
