Is 747 ecm the same plug as 165?
Is 747 ecm the same plug as 165?
That's the gist of it. Anybody know if they are the same socket? I am going to make a switch to speed density from my current 165 ecm maf setup. I plan to make a harness so I don't have to change my present ecm plugs. I found a great thread that shows how to make the jumper/harness. I need the sockets from that accept the female plugs. To do that I need to rob them from a ecm. I found a 747 ecm at the junk yard and held it next to the 165 ecm and they sure look the same. I can get the 747 ecm for $20 and he wants $45 for the 165. Anybody know if they are the same? Thanks a lot. Here's the link to the thread about making up the harness/adapter:

C'mon, I've got a 1226870, 1227730, and 1227165 sitting right here, and they all take the same plugs as far as I can tell. Except for the yellow one on the 730. 747 is same as 870 right?
I'm going to be needing some 749 connectors too, and wondering if they will be the same...
Oh wait, I'd guess the pnout is different of course, but the plugs seem to be mix-n-match no prob.

all the older gm plugs seem to swap around fine. however on the p4s the color yellow was most likely added to keep things from getting a bit mixed up on the assembly line. so yes your idea to make a swapable harness is fine.

Well yeah the pinout's are different. I thought he was asking if it plugged right into the harness easy swap. I don't know what I was thinking. Yeah, there are only 2 types of plugs from 82 to 95. The C3 ecms used the one and the P4 used the same with an additional one. Brain fart. Must have been all that egg knog.
Thanks guys!
Super, I bought the 747 ecm then. This is very exciting. I have been driving my car around for the last year with an awful lean miss on tip-in. Many chips have been tried to no avail. I've been told by people much wiser than I that a switch to speed density will allow some tuning to solve this. Thanks for the plug info. Now I can start making up my swap harness.

. Now whatever is in the chip for pump shot IS the actual pump shot. No more throttle responce issues to deal with. Just timing

In a pinch the black 32 pin connector can be used in place of the yellow 32 pin as only the color is changed.
