Help with Freescan

Hey, I just got the ALDL cable and everything hooked up for the first time, my only problem is that, using FreeScan, it doesn't save anything to either the log file or csv file unless I constantly press the "Force Communictions" button. It's a 93 Z28, so I know I shouldn't have to connect the 10k resistor wire, but does anyone know of a way to fix this? Thanks in advance for any help.

keep hitting the force coms until you see a steady stream of

mode 1 header detected.

when you see that and not the idle header in the mix it will log and display data. some cables are a bit more freaky.

Okay, I thought I had this working, but no-go. I just keep getting the Idle Header thing. The cable I'm using is Steve Ruse's from WOTelectronics. I'm running this on Win95 OSR2, and I'm thinking of installing Win98 on it to see if that's the problem, but does anyone know of any reason it wouldn't be logging it on it's own? It almost seems like the ECU simply isn't sending anything, plus I do know I'm not getting any A/F readings at all. Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you getting any data on the Engine Data screen? I usually wait about 2 minutes then hit the "force data" button until I see a change in the data stream. I then check the engine data screen for readings, and that it is linked. I am also using WIN95 and 98 depending on machine with no problems saving .csv files. You did change to the correct protocol (92-92 F-body) correct? HTH, Bob

I can get engine data, but it only updates itself after each time I hit 'Force'. I just installed win98, and now at least the Dashboard and About tabs aren't causing it to crash (they were before), so I'm gonna go test it out again and hopefully it'll work now.

I wonder if your missing a .dll file or something. Have you checked Andy's site for a FAQ, or troubleshooting answers? Bob

Win98 did'nt cure the problem afterall, and yeah I checked Andy's website for anything, but there isn't much there. I'm going to post the most recent log file in case anyone can look at it and tell me what's going on. I tried playing with the mS setting, but nothing. Are there any Windows settings (like Serial port settings) that need to be adjusted for this to work? I've been searching for a solution for about 8 hours total now, and I'm about out of ideas.
